Final November Federation Update

I just drove all the I-40 / I-77 road construction area and as of 9:30 PM Friday night, I couldn’t see anything of concern. Both lanes were open everywhere. If you run into anything tomorrow and need help, call my cell.

From Charlotte:  Cheap gas alert change. Gas at exit 42 is now up to $3.119, but gas at Mooresville exit 36 was $2.999 today. If you stop, check the Shell station on your right at the top of the ramp. If that doesn’t work, turn left on 150. Several stations are that direction. Hess about ½ mile West of I-77 is usually one of the cheapest.

See you tomorrow.

November Federation Update #2!

The date through which the hotel guaranteed our rooms has now past. All the rooms that were blocked for dancers and not reserved have been put back into the hotel’s open inventory for the upcoming weekend. The good news is that the manager will continue to rent dancers rooms at the previously agreed upon price of $69.00 per night as long as space is available. So, if you missed the deadline, there’s still a possibility of the cheaper rate.

One food item change in Troutman:  KFC has closed.

For those coming from the Charlotte/Mooresville area, you will be leaving I-77 at exit 42. Cheap gas alert, relatively speaking anyway:   $300.9 at foot of the exit 42 ramp as of Monday November 11.

I plan to do a drive through the Statesville construction area Friday night and have another posting available Saturday morning.

NCDOT is not projecting any construction delays on I-40 or I-77 at this time for the weekend.

November Federation Dance Update!

Plans are underway for a great Federation Dance.  The Bethlehem UMC Family Life Center that we will be using is a very nice, relatively new facility. And it’s very easy to find – a mile or so South of I-40 at exit 144, just West of Statesville. See the flyer for detailed directions.

“A” dancers:   Don’t forget the 1:00 PM “A” dance.

I checked with the hotel last night and we still have several rooms available in our block, guaranteed through Sunday, November 10.  I also found out that the hotel is basically sold out that weekend and any rooms that we don’t reserve by November 10 will, in all probability, become unavailable to us.

Our road construction has been moving at what the locals consider a fast pace.  The best news is that, as far as I know, the contractor has kept 2 lanes open each way at all times during the day.  Occasionally, we’ll see one lane closed at night, but I’ve witnessed no traffic delays as a result.  Unless there is an accident or a vehicle breaks down where there is no pull off space available, there should be no problems getting through the construction zone.  Slow down and watch for the lane shifts! Expect another road construction update a couple days ahead of the dance.
